Oak Lawn is home base. Much of the village was built in the boom years after World War II, so the typical house here is a brick ranch, raised ranch or Georgian from the 1950s or 60s. Plenty of them still run on the original 60- or 100-amp service, with a panel or fuse box that was never meant to carry central air, a finished basement, a kitchen full of appliances and an EV charger all at once.

Questions people ask before they call
Do you pull electrical permits?
Yes. We pull the permit for any job that needs one, register with your village when it's required, and meet the inspector. Permitted work protects you when you sell the house or file an insurance claim.
What areas do you serve?
We're based in Oak Lawn and work across Chicago's South Side, including Beverly, Mount Greenwood and Morgan Park, and the south and southwest suburbs from Evergreen Park out to Orland Park and Tinley Park. Larger projects farther out are taken on by arrangement.
Who actually does the work?
Peter Podczerwinski, the owner, is on every job. EMT Electric is a two-man shop with no subcontractors, so the person who quotes your job is the person who does it.
How fast will I hear back?
Every call is returned the same day. If something is sparking, smoking or smells hot, turn off that breaker and call right away; if there's fire or smoke you can't stop, call 911 first.
Do you do commercial work?
Yes. Alongside homes, we handle lighting, outlets, dedicated circuits and troubleshooting for small businesses, offices and storefronts in the area.
Is a free quote really free?
Yes. We look at the job, explain what it needs, and give you a firm price before any work starts. No charge for the quote and no surprises on the bill.
